Preparing for Projects…how does that relate to impacting the home????
For many of us as parents we take time to prepare for a project at work, or if you are a stay at home mom, you prepare for the many things that have to be done around the house. We spend hours preparing for those work projects or home projects. We pour our time into making sure the project will turn out great. For many of us who might teach Sunday School, or another Bible lesson, we prepare for hours to lead God’s people. There is nothing wrong with this, because we need to work hard at what we do.
However, what if we worked hard at also preparing to lead Famiy Worship/Devotions in our home? What if we took 20 minutes each day, with our spouse or in our own personal devotional time, to plan for what we would do in our Family Worship time at home. We do want to make sure that our families develop into a family that gives glory to God, right?
Many times, I hear that people don’t know what to do in Family Worship time, or they just are not physically and/or mentally charged to do Family Worship after a long day’s work.
What if, though, we took time to prepare to lead our family? What if we knew exactly what was going to be involved for that night, or week, of Family Worship time. What if we took time as moms and dads to prepare ourselves spiritually to lead our family in a time of family worship? What if you took time to read up on theology, read up on God’s Word and were prepared? What if you read a few good books on this (Big Truths for Young Hearts by Bruce Ware, Family Worship by Joel Beeke, The Godly Home by Richard Baxter etc). Would we come home too tired to lead Family Worship? I don’t think we would. Just like we are prepare for those projects for work or home, and do a good job at them, I think we would do great at leading Family Worship if we were prepared!
I know this is a large task ahead of us today. But, remember, we are in A BATTLE! Let’s prepare our hearts as parents each day to lead in Family Worship so that we can teach the truth of the gospel in our homes so that we are preparing our kids for the battle…to glorify God and proclaim the gospel to the lost!!!!
Tell me your thoughts!
